Sweet Memories
Day of the Dead might seem like it's right in line with Halloween. Skulls and bones. It makes sense, right? But the thing is, The Day of the Dead is actually quite sweet. Much like Halloween, it's a time of year when the veil between the living and the departed is thinnest. But unlike Halloween, when we dress up and try to make the living world seem horrific, people who are celebrating the Dio de lo Muertos are welcoming the spirits of those that they've lost back into their lives for a time. Spirits are welcomes with their favorite food and drinks, pictures, and plenty of flowers and glowing candles. In the meantime, we celebrate the fact that we'll be together again someday by painting the classic sugar skull makeup on our faces. It's a pretty great way to celebrate the cold, hard facts of life if you ask us!
Details & Design
Inspired by traditional Hispanic costumes, this Sugar Skull costume is the perfect blend of sweet and sassy. The top has lace cap sleeves, red lace trim, and a skull and rose detail that was designed by our in-house graphic artists. A skirt flares out from the waist and has a matching skull pattern along the hem and a unique bone pattern in the center. The look is cinched in at the waist with a red sash, providing you with a look that just begs you to twirl!
Dazzling the Dead
Give the visiting spirits a proper welcome in a fit that'll make you feel like you're also on a different plane. Pair this costume with sugar skull makeup and top it with a flower crown to make your ensemble instantly Instagram worthy. Now all you have to do is figure out some top-notch dance moves.
