The Other Death-Themed Holiday
Lots of folks tend to think that the Day of the Dead is the same thing as Halloween, but they are mistaken. The Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday and actually takes place from Oct. 30 to Nov. 1. (So it's already better than Halloween, because there are three whole days of celebration and partying!) And while there isn't exactly the chance to collect candy door-to-door, during the Day of the Dead, people have the chance to remember friends and family who have passed away. Not only that, but they can include these dead family members in the celebration through special altar offerings, where they leave tasty treats and other presents for their loved ones to enjoy.
There are lots of ways that the living celebrate the Day of the Dead, including sugar skulls, marigolds, cardboard skeletons, tissue paper decorations, and fruits and nuts. Of course, you can't forget the colorful costumes!

Celebrate the Day of the Dead in style with this Girl's Day of the Dead Costume. The dress is 100 percent polyester and comes with attached tulle and faux flowers. The top part of the dress is black with white skeleton graphics, along with multi-colored faux flowers. Meanwhile, the dress bottom has shiny layers of red, blue and yellow fabric, with cute black tulle peeking out from underneath. There's a zipper down the back for easy wear. The costume also comes with a plastic headband that has attached multi-colored faux flowers and a black lace veil.
