The Evolution of Black Panther [Infographic]

The Evolution of Black Panther

52 years ago in Fantastic Four #52, Black Panther debuted as the first black superhero in mainstream American comic books. His alter ego is T’Challa, head of the Panther Tribe and king of Wakanda, a fictional African nation in the Marvel Comics universe. T'Challa was married to Storm of the X-Men for six years and, as Black Panther, fought alongside the Fantastic Four and the Avengers. The character was never as well-known as these Marvel Comics heavyweights, but that appears to be changing. Actor Chadwick Boseman was lauded for his performance as T'Challa in Captain America: Civil War, and the Black Panther solo movie is setting records for advance ticket sales.

The Evolution of Thor [Infographic]

The Evolution of Thor

Marvel superhero Thor debuted in 1962, primarily the work of artist Jack Kirby, editor Stan Lee, and scripter (and Lee’s brother) Larry Lieber. While the original costume that they designed (blue armor, red cape, and silver winged helmet) is considered a classic at this point, it’s certainly not the only one Thor has worn over the past 55 years. In this infographic, we show how Thor’s appearance has evolved through many comic trends, while often calling back to archetypal features like his cape or winged helmet. We’ll also take a look at some other characters who were worthy of wielding Mjolnir, whether they were called by the name “Thor” (like Jane Foster) or simply gained his powers (Beta Ray Bill and Throg). So let’s cross the Bifrost Bridge into Asgard and see how Thor has evolved!

30 Years of Zelda: The Evolution of Link [Infographic]

The Evolution of Link

Hey! Listen! What was your first Zelda game? Some players have been with the series since 1987, the year the first game was released in America. (The Legend of Zelda officially was first released in 1986 in Japan.) Other players joined the Hyrule adventure in 1998, over a decade later, with the Nintendo 64's Ocarina of Time. And we imagine now, new, young players picking up their 3DS and helping guide Toon Link through his quest in the handheld entries to the franchise. Throughout all of these games, our hero, Link, has evolved and transformed, little by little, due to graphics upgrades, designer and developer choices, outfits, and even hair color. In our infographic, we show all of these changes and give you insight into why the differences happened. So, if you're as excited as we are to plug in the Nintendo Switch for the first time on March 3rd, and play the newest Zelda game, Breath of the Wild, we hope you enjoy this blog. It's dangerous to go alone! Take this.

Freddy Krueger Infographic

Take a moment to relax. Find a nice, quiet room, and lay down in the dark. Close your eyes. Feel yourself drifting off to sleep… Suddenly, you see a figure off in the distance. The vision is hazy at first, but then he slowly rises into focus. You can see a ragged striped sweater on a tall lurching body. An old brown hat with a wide brim. A sharp ray of light flickers: he has blades coming from his sleeve, like every finger is a knife. Burnt, disfigured skin glistens in the moonlight. Finally, the man of your dreams fully appears in front of you: it’s Freddy Krueger. One of the most infamous movie villains of all time came into the pop culture lexicon in 1984’s A Nightmare on Elm Street and throughout the 9-film franchise, Krueger’s look changed bit-by-bit, burn-by-burn, and other such b-words that Freddy is well-known for spouting. We’ve created this infographic showing the changes, as well as Krueger’s kill count per film and interesting facts about each movie. See for yourself, but whatever you do… don’t fall asleep.
