30 Years of Zelda: The Evolution of Link [Infographic]

The Evolution of Link

Hey! Listen! What was your first Zelda game? Some players have been with the series since 1987, the year the first game was released in America. (The Legend of Zelda officially was first released in 1986 in Japan.) Other players joined the Hyrule adventure in 1998, over a decade later, with the Nintendo 64's Ocarina of Time. And we imagine now, new, young players picking up their 3DS and helping guide Toon Link through his quest in the handheld entries to the franchise. Throughout all of these games, our hero, Link, has evolved and transformed, little by little, due to graphics upgrades, designer and developer choices, outfits, and even hair color. In our infographic, we show all of these changes and give you insight into why the differences happened. So, if you're as excited as we are to plug in the Nintendo Switch for the first time on March 3rd, and play the newest Zelda game, Breath of the Wild, we hope you enjoy this blog. It's dangerous to go alone! Take this.

Pokémon Go Halloween Costume Ideas

Pokemon GO Costume Ideas for Halloween

Pokémon GO hit the US Android and Apple app stores last week and, well, if you’ve seen an influx of people walking the sidewalks with their phones in front of them, that’s why. This new AR game turns regular smart phone users into real life Pokémon trainers – you can walk down the street by your house and catch a cute Pidgey hanging out by the mailbox or you can go to the local park in your neighborhood and defend your territory at the gym, battling your Pokémon against others in the area. There are some crazy stats about the app, too – as of the 8th, people were playing Pokémon GO more than they were using Instagram or Snapchat! (Also, the app added over $7 billion to Nintendo’s market value in just two days. Yikes!) While you’re catching ‘em all, you have to look the part. We know that the video game series will be as popular as ever this Halloween, so here are some Pokémon costumes to get you ready for October....

Video Game Movies: Super Box Office Bros. [Infographic]

Video Game Movies: Super Box Office Bros

Video games have been telling stories since the days of Pong. Sure, a friendly game of table tennis on a Sunday afternoon may not be the next Citizen Kane, but the game still strives to show us an epic competition between two paddles! Other games take us on epic odysseys to a faraway land filled with princesses, dinosaurs, and tiny mushroom people, a la Super Mario Bros., and others, like the stories in Resident Evil, show us our own world, but with more zombies. With the treasure trove of tales to tell, it's not surprising that many games have taken the step into the silver screen. Some entered the movie scene like champs, while others crashed and burned in a glorious blaze of blue Hadouken flames. Since Blizzard has decided to take a stab at it with Warcraft, coming out on June 10th, we got inspired to put together this list of all the internationally released movies based on video games, which shows you which video game movies brought in the most coins and which ones tanked at the box office.

The Galaxy Far, Far Away: A Tour of the Star Wars Universe [Infographic]

The Galaxy Far, Far Away: A Tour of the Star Wars Universe

The main Star Wars galaxy was much like our own Milky Way: one hundred-thousand light years across with hundreds of millions of stars. And also like ours, many of those stars had planetary systems, some habitable or otherwise useful. (Mining natural resources, for example, or hiding children from their Sith Lord fathers.) You may know them from the original trilogy, the prequel trilogy, or even the new Battlefront video game. So without further a-dewback - yes, that happened - let’s travel from the Core World of Coruscant through the most iconic Mid Rim and Outer Rim...

DIY Metal Gear Solid Costume

Metal Gear Solid DIY

Metal Gear Solid is a wildly popular and critically acclaimed franchise of video games, a continuation (as sequels and prequels) of the earlier generation of Metal Gear games. But if you’re reading this, you probably knew that already. Solid Snake is the main protagonist of the series in general, though his commanding officer–and later antagonist, among other things–Big Boss has served as the protagonist since Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. While Big Boss is the focus of this do-it-yourself costume tutorial, we’re also including tips on dressing as Solid Snake because he appears eerily similar. It’s almost like Solid Snake is a clone…almost exactly like he’s a clone. (Okay, he’s a clone.)
