Farmer Joe created his scarecrow years ago. He had had enough of those pesky crows treating his fields like an all you can eat buffet. So when he created this very special scarecrow, he put extra love into it. It was a vindictive kind of love. He wanted to make sure his scarecrow seemed lifelike. He carefully drew the face on a burlap sack before stuffing it with straw. He gave the straw man a shirt that smelled particularly like human sweat. He even gave the scarecrow an old pair of Sunday shoes for an official touch. And to top it all off, he whispered a wish in the dummy's ear. No one knows what he said but we can guess because the scarecrow's never aged, never fallen apart. And yet, no one other than Farmer Joe dares to harvest corn from that field cause it's said that anyone else that touches even a kernel will get an "earful" from Joe's sentient scarecrow!
