Ice Cream Heartache
The sign says free. The ice cream is pretty compelling. But, something about the clown offering the sweet treat has us wondering if we'll regret his idea of toppings. The fact that he's got glowing yellow eyes, bloodstained orange pants, and a grin that stopped being friendly somewhere around 1987 might have something to do with our reservations. On the other hand, it's Halloween. Who doesn't want to risk a little mayhem for something wickedly delicious?
Design & Details
Standing 78 inches tall to the top of his little pink hat, Saul features a molded head and hands with latex covering, a moving latex mouth that jabbers along as he speaks, and eyes that glow yellow for full unsettling effect. He holds an ice cream cone in one hand and a "Free Ice Cream" sign in the other, and he leans forward at the end of each phrase like he really wants you to hear it.
Powered by a standard outlet, Saul runs in on/off or motion-detection mode. He delivers five phrases that range from cheerful Halloween-themed lines to darkly suggestive ones involving blood as an ice cream topping and an unsettling uncertainty of where he got his soft-serve to start with. The leaning motion timed to speech gives each phrase an extra layer of personal menace.
