There’s an old movie - based on a bestselling novel, of course - called, “They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?” that was made in 1969. It was directed by Sydney Pollack and starred a young Jane Fonda and was nominated for nine Academy Awards. It centered around a phenomenon known as Dance Marathons, which were all the rage during the Great Depression.
The contests were incredibly long and grueling affairs, often taking place over several weeks: contestants would dance for an hour and fifty minutes, then receive a ten-minute break. Hundreds of couples would enter the contest, all drawn by the free food, shelter, and the opportunity to earn cash prizes. The dances were also incredibly popular with spectators, not only because they were often free entertainment, but also due to the sadistic pleasure and power the audience often felt from watching the contestants compete in the grueling event. In the movie, we watch as Jane Fonda’s character becomes more and more exhausted and bitter by her hopeless station in life, and when the Dance Marathon finally ends through tragic circumstances, she literally begs her dance partner to just put her out of her misery. Apparently a lot of people felt that way - a number of deaths during and after these dance marathons prompted cities like Seattle to outlaw them.
So that’s kind of depressing…but you know what’s not? This Ruby Red Hot Flapper Costume! This bright red pullover sheath has multiple tiers of long red fringe and bows at the base of the shoulder straps that anchor swagged bead strands, making it an extra festive costume for your next Roaring '20s party, Casino Night, or Halloween bash. It even comes with a sequined elastic headband featuring a metallic red rose and a red plastic cigarette holder! Pair it with some fishnet stockings and cute heels and you'll be ready to dance all night! (But fun, though...not to survive in the Depression via the deep bummer dance marathon way)

I got a Small and am pretty thin, but I do have wide hips I would say so the dress fits perfectly but it's slightly short on me in the back (I am also 5"6' and weighs about 117 pounds, just to give you an idea of how to select your size - oh and it is also pretty fit at the top so if you have a small chest like me lol it should be fine).
As for the black necklaces that are attached to the dress, it is simply plastic so it looks fake/cheap but nothing to really worry about.
Overall, I think it is okay for the price.
