There’s been an awakening in the force. Actually, what are we saying? The Force has been awake for quite some time now since Star Wars: Episode 7 came out in 2015. Since then, we’ve been blessed with Star Wars movies each year since. 2018 sees the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, the second anthology film a year and a half after Rogue One was released. While the Han Solo movie looks back on some favorite characters, there certainly have been plenty of new ones revealed in recent years. The Star Was Halloween costume possibilities truly are endless.
The Force Awakens saw the return of fan favorites such as Han Solo, Chewbacca, Princess (now General) Leia, and even Luke Skywalker (for a very brief moment) while also introducing a new cast of characters like Rey, Finn, Poe, and Kylo Ren among others. If you’re looking to dress up for Star Wars Day, Star Wars Celebration, or the premiere of the latest Star Wars movie, you’ll want to choose the character who is right for you. Thankfully, you’ve come across this handy guide of Star Wars costumes from the ever-expanding Star Wars universe. Read on to find your favorite Star Wars costume and may the Force be with you.
From her introduction as a lonely scavenger in The Force Awakens to her status as Resistance hero and current pilot of the Millennium Falcon, Rey has come a long way in her short journey so far. If you want to achieve the look of this intergalactic heroine, you can dress in costumes featuring her scavenger apparel or her outfit from The Last Jedi that she wears while training with Luke on Ach-To. These Rey costumes are available for adults and kids, plus you can pick up any accessories, including Star Wars boots and shoes, right here at HalloweenCostumes.com.
Kylo Ren Costumes
After a brief internal struggle, it appears as if Kylo Ren has fully embraced the dark side. He may have destroyed his mask in The Last Jedi, but that doesn't mean you can't wear it with your Halloween ensemble. Of course, if you like the no-helmet look, you could go for a wig and scar makeup kit to get the look. Really, you can't go wrong if you're wearing all black and carrying around that cool-looking lightsaber. You can buy a Kylo Ren costume for adults or kids, and don't forget the lightsaber!
Luke Skywalker Costumes

Luke Skywalker has always been the spark of hope needed by the allies teaming up to take on the evil force of the dark side. If you're going to dress up as Luke, you're going to want to pick the right costume. Do you want to be the classic Jedi look from his appearance in the original Star Wars trilogy or do you want to be the older Luke from the new movies? You could also wear and X-Wing pilot uniform if you're feeling the itch to blow up the death star. Once you find a Luke Skywalker costume that fits you perfectly, make sure to pick up a matching lightsaber. (Remember that Luke used a blue lightsaber for most of the series, but he did wield a green lightsaber in Return of the Jedi.)
Princess Leia Costumes
If we're talking about blowing up the death star, you'll need the help of Leia Organa. Many will recognize Princess Leia from her iconic appearance in the original Star Wars series, but she plays such a huge role as General leader of the resistance in The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.
Finn is another resistance fighter in the new trilogy of Star Wars films. When we first meet him, however, he's not fighting on the good side. He's a stormtrooper referred to as FN-2187 and he's looking for a way out. Thankfully, when he crosses paths with Poe Dameron, he's able to escape his life as a soldier with poor aiming abilities. You can dress as the stormtrooper FN-2187 or Finn himself, who happens to wear a jacket that belongs to Poe Dameron.
Poe Dameron Costumes
Since Finn has his jacket, Poe has his own uniform. As one of the greatest pilots in the resistance, he can be found dressed in pilot gear as opposed to his regular gear. Poe is rarely without his companion droid BB-8, so if you plan on dressing up as him, maybe consider pairing with someone to dress as the orange and white robot. It would make a perfect parent-child costume idea!
Han Solo Costumes
When talking about the greatest pilots in the galaxy, Han Solo's name certainly shows up on the list. We may have seen the last of Han in the current Star Wars saga, but his character will have at least one more story playing out on the big screen with Solo: A Star Wars Story. Han's classic shirt and vest combo make for a simple, yet effective Halloween costume. Make sure you have your blaster ready in case you need to shoot first.
If you’re looking for a costume that will keep you warm on a cool Halloween evening, Chewbacca is your best bet. He's as reliable as he is recognizable. You can dress up as Chewy on your own or pair up with a Han Solo or Rey for a great couples costume. If brown fur is your style, let out a big wookiee roar and prepare to board the Millennium Falcon.
Darth Vader Costumes
Darth Vader may be the most iconic character in Star Wars, therefore one of the most popular Star Wars Halloween costumes. Fun fact: Did you know Darth Vader is Luke Skywalker's father? If not, what are you doing looking at Star Wars costumes? Go watch The Empire Strikes Back, then come back and buy your Darth Vader costume. Men, women, children, and even dogs can dress as this menacing villain in their attempt to rule the galaxy.
You can't have Star Wars without Stormtroopers. Though they have such poor aim with their blasters, they have some of the best-looking costumes in the galaxy. While you could go with a supreme authentic Stormtrooper costume, there are plenty of other options that won't cost as much and might offer more comfort. Like the Darth Vader costumes, you can get a Stormtrooper costume for men, women, and kids!
One of the pleasant surprises in 2017's The Last Jedi was the brief appearance of Yoda showing up to teach one final lesson to Luke. Though Yoda is one of the oldest and wisest characters in Star Wars, he's also small in stature making him a perfect Halloween costume for children and animals. That's not to say that adults can't dress up as their favorite wise-cracking Jedi master.
Obi Wan Kenobi Costumes
While Yoda is the OG Jedi Master in the Star Wars universe, Obi Wan has been through the ringer, having trained Anakin Skywalker, who he'd eventually have to fight after he crossed over to the dark side. Then, after years of staying in hiding, he begins another journey with Luke Skywalker only to suffer his demise at the hand of Darth Vader himself. Becoming a Jedi master comes at a price, but at least you get a cool Jedi robe, right?
Star Wars The Last Jedi Costumes
The Star Wars universe is constantly expanding and Episode VIII added even more characters to the mix. One of the most popular being Porgs, cute little bird-like creatures that you can dress your little one as for Halloween. They make a perfect companion for any Chewbacca costume! Other new characters include Supreme Leader Snoke (thought he was shown as a hologram in The Force Awakens) and the intimidating Praetorian Guards. Longtime favorite C-3PO made an appearance and he was more recognizable without the red arm!
