Goddess of Love Aphrodite Costume
Everybody wants to put Aphrodite in a corner. Because when people say she's the goddess of love, it sometimes feels like they mean drawing hearts on things. But Aphrodite's version of love was more along the lines of starting all-out brawls. Her irresistible appeal meant that she was always in demand, and gave her a ton of power over humankind as well as the immortals on Mt. Olympus. She was married to Hephaestus, the god of making cool stuff, and she was also really close with Ares, the god of war and breaking things. Most beings only get intimate with Ares if they don't mind a little fire and a lot of chaos.
Drawing hearts? This is a deity who emerged from a foaming sea on the back of a giant clam. We don't know about you, but whenever we see huge molluscs bubbling up out of the ocean, we don't think, "Wow! Valentine's Day must have come early this year!" We take a big step back. That seems like common sense.
So yes, you should wear this elegant costume if you'd like to try on the divine good looks and charm of one of the most iconic Greek goddesses. Everyone is gonna love you! Live it up! But don't forget that you're stepping into some pretty big sandals, metaphorically speaking. Don't let Zeus try to boss you around—he's just jealous of your universal influence. And try to give Persephone a little space. There seems to be some beef between the two of you.
