A Cultural Aesthetic Gone Global
If you've never heard the term "kawaii" before, then don't worry! We are happy to help you out. The word kawaii comes from the Japanese language and basically describes things as "cute." That doesn't quite capture the aesthetic that is part of the innate meaning of kawaii. Think of soft, cuddly items and figures, innocent faces and expressions, pastels and sparkles. It's cute, yes, but it's a very specific kind of cute—and it's a VERY cute kind of cute! You and your child will both love this Red Squirrel Quirky Kawaii Hat, whether you know what kawaii means or not!
This little squirrel is super cute in a way we can't quite put our finger on! It's a perfect example of a kawaii item. Rather than a brown fabric, this squirrel is made from a deep orange material, with lighter orange for the ears and cheeks. There are tufts of fabric poking out of the ears as fur, and the little white buck teeth fit at the very bottom of the hat. Most importantly, the squirrel has little pink ovals under the eyes, signifying wee cheeks. Oh, we want to give it a squeeze just looking at it!
