Ghost Stories
Once upon a time there were three best friends: a redheaded girl named Maribelle, young chimney sweep named Fred, and their imaginary friend Susan. The three of them loved to run and play all throughout their neighborhood, earning the disapproving glares of many neighbors as they carelessly trampled pristine flower beds or left fingerprints on recently-waxed cars. But they were unstoppable because their friendship made them so!
And so, one Halloween, after a long day of eating candy and terrorizing the neighborhood, they sat on their swings and promised one another that they would never change. First Fred said, “I always want to just have fun with you two!” Then Maribelle said, “I hope we never have to be apart.” Finally, Susan, her eyes glowing red in the night, said, “It will be so. You two will always stay with me here and now. From this Halloween until the end of time, we will be fast friends and no one will come between us.”
