Hen Party Costume Ideas

The hen (or bachelorette) party’s almost sorted: you've picked a great hotel, booked a top-notch restaurant and even managed to get everyone onto the guest-list at an exclusive club. But there's something missing… Spongebob Square Pants, perhaps?

You can have a great hen without hot pants and bustiers - after all, hen weekends are all about having a night of hilarity with your best mates and doing something a bit out of the ordinary. Rather than risk your hen party plans turning into another normal night of pubs and clubs, insist on fancy dress. Even better, to make sure that no-one's taking themselves too seriously, get hold of some geeky group costumes and you're guaranteed to be giggling all night long. And it doesn’t have to stop with just costumes; these hen party ideas could give hen weekends a hilarious theme that will have everyone in stitches.

For Star Wars fans, dressing everyone up as Princess Leia is a must. Feel the force as soon as you slip on long white dresses and don the essential bun-roll wigs. Or, allow the bride-to-be to take centre-stage as the beautiful heroine, and back her up by becoming a team of Jedi Knights, warding off Darth Vader and the Dark Side with your trusty light-sabers. Just remember: Your focus determines your reality!

Perhaps magic wands are more your thing? Spend the afternoon getting ready, whilst thumbing your way through The Philosopher’s Stone, The Chamber of Secrets and The Order of The Phoenix. Dress up in geeky Harry Potter glasses and Gryffindor robes, or step it up a notch and go as a group of gorgeous wizards in sexy school uniforms, complete with Hogwarts crests and pointy hats. Don’t forget, there are still The Half Blood Prince and The Deathly Hallows to see you through the hangover the next day.

Remember Slimer? How about a hen party 1980s-style? Get the girls to dress up as Ghostbusters and spend an evening blasting any ghouls that come your way with your genuine proton-packs. Things have changed a bit since the ‘80s though - you’ll be pleased to hear that thick boiler-suits and firemen’s boots are out, and that girly Ghostbusters wear fitted, tan-colored playsuits – perfect for a night on the dance-floor. Make sure that someone asks the DJ to play the Ghostbusters’ theme tune at least twice.

Whatever you’re into, you can guarantee there’s a great hen-do costume to match. Not only will you stand out from all the other hen parties in their pink cowboy hats and devil-horns, but also the photos will keep you chuckling long after the wedding.
