Not Just a Character in a Musical
Before he was singing his way through Hamilton, George Washington was kind of a big deal. He wasn't just the first U.S. President—he basically beta-tested the entire “leader of a free nation” thing. At six, he was allegedly chopping down cherry trees. By twenty, he was a Major in the Colonial Military. And then? Just a casual revolution followed by launching a country from scratch. No biggie.
Clearly, the man deserves some recognition. So, our costume designers put down their history books, cranked up the Broadway soundtrack, and got to work crafting an outfit worthy of a founding father’s legacy (and dramatic exits).
Design & Details
This George Washington costume is tailored for anyone ready to lead a revolution or at least a really dramatic school assembly. It features a rich blue velvet jacket with gold trim, decorative buttons, and stately epaulets for maximum 18th-century swagger. Underneath, the matching gold damask vest front secures in the back and adds a presidential flourish.
The white ascot has three lace-tiered layers—because nothing says “national icon” like neck ruffles. Tan jersey knit pants come with an elastic waistband, so you can charge across battlefields (or buffets) in comfort. Faux leather boot tops and a foam-backed bicorn hat finish the look with historically appropriate flair.
Presidential Hair
Once you're suited up, you might feel a sudden urge to declare independence, cross a river dramatically, or issue stern but fatherly advice. For the full one-dollar-bill effect, add a colonial wig to your cart and prepare to be saluted—probably more than once. Height Thin enough that some people are worried bout it | Weight Thin enough that some people are worried bout it | Size MediumThere was no lack of positive reactions. This was the first "made by us" costume I bought at the time (other than the sarcophagus costume I bought at the same time). The quality is much higher than other costumes I've bought (though it's also the most expensive, but if you're going to wear something like this many times, it's worth grabbing that extra quality.) The only part that didn't feel like high quality is the hat, which ripped easily at the top. It's not a massive issue because nobody can even see the top, besides almost everybody told me I needed a colonial wig anyway, a couple going as far as to mistake me for Napoleon. Also, I ditched (left at home) the boot covers; they didn't really amplify the costume enough to justify the space they took up while packing. I have on tabi boots btw, not historically accurate, but gets the job done.Was this review helpful to you?

At first I was confused on why the boots didn’t have the foot parts, but then I realized it was boot extensions, not actual boots. There isn’t anything bad I’d say about the costume. I was able to play the entire round in the costume, including with the hat! Size SmallThis costume worked great and fitted as expected (I ordered a small, which I usually wear for t-shirts etc.). Was a little confusing on how to put on initially, but was able to work it out (after referring back to the website to check how it was supposed to look!).

The costume is great for the price. That hat was missing a couple of stitches when I took it out of the bag, but otherwise worked well. I usually have to order shirts Medium-Tall. I teach middle school and needed this for class. The jacket had weird light spots on the back and the epaulets were frayed and crooked. I was sent a replacement costume and it was exactly the same.
