The Prophecies Were True
He’s tall. He’s terrifying. He’s definitely not a moth you can shoo away with a flashlight. The 11.5-Foot Mothman Animatronic Decoration is a towering cryptid nightmare, complete with flapping wings, glowing red eyes, and eerie sounds that will have your guests questioning every suspicious flutter they’ve ever heard. Whether he’s a warning of doom or just the world's creepiest lawn ornament… that’s for you to decide.
One thing’s for sure—he’s not here for your porch light.
Design & Details
This massive animatronic measures 10 feet tall at the head and stretches out to a full 12 feet when the wings are extended. Supported by a sturdy metal frame and built with plastic and polyester fabric, this beast looks like he just flew out of a legend and crash-landed in your yard. His glowing red eyes pulse ominously while the head slowly turns side to side and his arms rise and lower like he’s preparing for lift-off—or something worse.
The wings flap on their own, rustling the air while Mothman unleashes unsettling clicking sounds and low, distorted ambient noises. He features volume control so you can choose how subtle or chaotic the scene becomes. Activation options include motion sensor, try-me button, or a step pad (sold separately). He’s suitable for indoor or covered outdoor use but must stay dry. If used outdoors, always plug into a GFCI outlet. Plug may require an adapter if used internationally (not included).
A Terror Tale with Wings
The Mothman legend just got a whole lot bigger. Whether you’re building a cryptid-themed haunt, a forest of folklore, or just need something to make your neighbors deeply uncomfortable, this animatronic delivers massive presence and myth-level chills. Good luck explaining him away.

- A favorite character simply not built to lastBy Current Customer | October 5, 2025
It’s incredibly disappointing that I’ve even had to write this review, as Mothman is one of my all time favorite cryptids—so seeing him in animatronic form was like a dream come true for a Halloween display. Unfortunately, in the span of a month, I’ve gone through 4 of these guys. The first one came with a snapped head wire straight out of the box, along with a wing mechanism that wasn’t fully assembled correctly. The second one came with a broken wing mechanism straight out of the box. The third one, which lasted the longest thus far worked perfectly and was doing just fine for weeks until it randomly decided to stop working: even with no rain or moisture being anywhere near the control box. I even take the extra precaution with my outdoor animatronics with plastic to keep things like that away from any electronic components. I tried different plugs with the same voltage and still nothing, it just decided it was done working. Now we are in October, and I had just received what was supposed to be my replacement to end all replacements, and I wake up today to the welding on his left wing having come off. He had been switched off all night, due to my previous Mothman having fried. I was worried this one would do the same, so I kept him off… and that seems like even that wasn’t enough. The gusts today were no higher than 10mph, and his wing is just completely done for. You mean to tell me an outdoor rated animatronic can’t withstand 10mph gusts? I’d understand anything above 25 or god forbid 30+, but we haven’t gotten wind like that since early to mid August, when he wasn’t even shipped to my house yet. There is absolutely no reason why I now have 4 broken Mothmen, all in some way having issues relating to welding and the wing mechanism. I love this character and want a working one so bad, but after having gotten four (having returned one which I still have not recieved a refund for) and having exchanged one for a working one that was also shipped back. If he returns for future seasons, please request that he is made with significant changes to his build quality. As he stands now, he simply can’t last worth anything. It’s so beyond frustrating as a customer. I’ve ordered countless things from the line up this year, from Rudy, to Spikey, to Roswell alien to the alien exterminator… and all have worked flawlessly. Why can’t Mothman, my most anticipated character, also be the case?Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - Five StarsBy Paul Brahar | September 29, 2025

After about 3 weeks, my Mothman started making noises sounding of metal rubbing. We have had to zip tie his wings to stay up like they are suppose to. He looks good, especially the head, but we don’t plug him in anymore because of the ongoing issues. Just not as sturdy as other animatronics I have bought.Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - don't waste your moneyBy APRIL | October 9, 2025
I preordered this when it first released and I regret paying the price I did for this overgrown piece of scrap metal.
The wind blew him over and he sustained many injuries from his fall. Thankfully I have a mothman doctor on call and he was repaired but he shouldn't have been designed so poorly. Once he was repaired, I moved him closer to the house to hopefully not catch any wind and the housing for his wing was broken. I was so excited to purchase this and put him out every spooky season but I don't think he's going back up once he comes down. Incredibly disappointed. Was this review helpful to you? - Two StarsBy Current Customer | October 4, 2025
This prop is a very cool idea with a lot of potential. It has sort of a lot of animations for a prop this size which is awesome. And they nailed the look of this prop too!
The problems with this prop are that the quality is simply unacceptable. And I bought this prop for the original price!
So right off the bat…. I noticed all the metal poles and such feel like worse quality and thickness compared to literally any other Halloween prop I’ve ever had. And I have over 50 animatronics.
Then I could barely get the base together because it was poorly aligned. I had to nearly break it to get it to fit together.
After that, the wing fabric is held in place with a ZIP TIE! And this may not seem bad on paper but they literally just cut a hole in the fabric for you to string a zip tie through that RIPS that fabric! Who thought that was a good idea?
And then at the end of my build I attached the guy wires in the back and BOTH SIDES of the wire snapped!! I have literally never seen that happen ever before. I didn’t even know those wires could break. I was shocked.
And now it’s been up for 2 weeks and now the sensor is broken! Just one thing after another.
And it is a blues clues mystery why this GIANT animatronic isn’t rated for outdoors! Again, who the heck was in charge of designing this? This thing was pricey and it’s not outdoor rated?!? So baffling.
I will say, I spoke with their customer service and they were very accommodating and offered me a refund if I send it back OR they could refund half and let me keep it.
I decided to keep because again I like the look and animations but I HIGHLY doubt it will survive the whole season.
If you have the money to waste sure go ahead and grab this, but don’t expect it to last more than one season. And maybe only put it out for Halloween night. Mine feels like it is about to collapse so I took it down for now.Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - JunkBy Save your money | October 3, 2025
This item was delivered in a tattered and torn box so I knew there was going to be issues. Upon unboxing there was considerable damage to the square tubes, wires were broken and sewn portions of the wings that should have not been sewn. I continued with set up according to the instruction with the added bonus of cutting and butting the broke wires. I managed to repair the wire successfully as that wire was for the eye lights and all came on. However the gear system for the arm articulation is trash. It was able to complete once full cycle and after that they would just stay in place and there is a very audible clicking and popping sound from the gear box.
Over all this item is far too over priced for what you get.
Save your money and buy something of better quality and craftsmanship.Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - Menacing!By Benjamin R Schissel | September 21, 2025
The mothman is an amazingly creative idea! I love how he looks, he's really big! And that creepy sound he makes well probably give me nightmares. However, a 12 foot tall, 12 foot wide animatronic that's NOT outside safe, isn't well thought out.Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - Amazing!By Byorn | September 1, 2025
