Sweet or Sly Slytherin?
Albus Dumbledore once said he sometimes wondered if students were sorted into their Hogwarts houses too early. We have recently come to agree. Now, while we are aware that Slytherin is not an evil house and not the sole creator of trouble-making witches and wizards, we must acknowledge that it is where you are most likely to find a rather haughty and shrewd group of magic-learners. With that in mind, it was pretty startling to see this cherub-faced toddler (pictured above) wearing the emerald and silver of Slytherin house.
In all our time as students, alumni, and Muggle-fans of Hogwarts school, we had never seen or even heard of a sweet Slytherin. We were all taught to think of Slytherins as resourceful, cunning, and ambitious—even Slytherin students stuck to that doctrine. Then this little witch showed us something entirely different: a genuine smile, happy disposition, and great care for others.
Then again, she was sorted into Slytherin. Her angelic ways may just be a sly ruse that will lull us into a false sense of security. After all, cleverness is a Slytherin trait—we may never know which side of this young witch is true.
