SUPERHERO QUICK-CHANGE?
In a universe where you have all sorts of potential threats that loom over us, ready to show up, beam down, teleport in, or all other manner of sudden appearances, any superhero worth her salt needs to be ready to get up and go at the drop of a hat—or an intergalactic spaceship... whichever one happens to hit the ground first. But, really, unless we're talking about Quicksilver, it's probably going to take a minute to get costumed for the chaos.
Of course, Carol Danvers has a little Kree trick up her sleeve. (Or, more accurately, on her sleeve.) She can type up a few quick commands and change up her look in all manner of nifty ways. She settled upon the epic primary colors but she might have gone several other ways. Sullen and moody for a noir affair? Psychadelic for a showdown with Disco Demon? But, none of that lets her just burst on the scene in proper attire. Nope! This superhero has to gear up one foot at a time just like the rest of us!

- Higher, Further, Faster, MORE!By Paige | September 24, 2020Height 5’9” | Weight 170 lbs | Size LargeI ordered this because I’ve wanted a Captain Marvel costume ever since I fell in love with Carol Danvers during her 2014 comics run. I figured it was only $40 (it was on sale when I ordered), so why not treat myself to a costume I’ve been wanting for a while. Great price, fast shipping.
Opening the package, I went to unzip the jumpsuit, but to do that, I needed to remove the Hala Star on the chest. The velcro immediately ripped off the star. A bit disappointing as this is kind of the focal point of the outfit, but it was easily fixed with some hot glue. My jumpsuit also did not have the two little rounded gold buttons on the collar as depicted in the model’s image. Additionally, the collar came up pretty high and was a bit tight, which could be uncomfortable if wearing for long periods of time, but perhaps it’ll stretch out as I wear it more.
Jumpsuit fit well, I’m 5’9” and 170 lbs and I got a large. I also have long legs and long arms, so I was actually pretty shocked that the sleeves and the legs of the jumpsuit went to where they were supposed to be. I was expecting them to be a bit short, which technically doesn’t matter for this outfit as there are the gloves and boot covers, but it was still a pleasant surprise.
The sash was a bit too small for me (the tag on the inside of the sash had L for Large, so it was the correct size), I have some chub on my stomach. It’s spandex-y though, so I’m sure it’ll stretch out over time. Unfortunately the “medallion” on the sash on mine looks kind of deflated and the star is shapeless stitch points, whereas on the model it looks “puffy” so you can make out the outline of the Hala Star. I may have to buy a more true belt buckle on Etsy to put on the sash.
The gloves fit well, fingers were a bit thin for my chubby digits but they’ll probably stretch out. The gloves also have that thing on the fingertips where the extra material bunches, which can be a bit annoying. They’re also too thick to use a phone, but I expected that. The little rounded gold buttons feel a bit loose, it wouldn’t surprise me if they fell off soon, but they would be pretty easy to sew back on.
The boot covers are a faux leather, which I wasn’t expecting (I missed that in the item description), so they look good! But I had to VERY carefully peel them apart, as the faux leather had stuck itself together in the package. There’s also a vertical strip of spandex in the back, so you can stretch them over your legs. They were a bit challenging to get on (I have thick calves though), but once they were on, they were on, I don’t anticipate them falling down like other boot covers may. They do the weird thing that all boot covers tend to do where the material doesn’t quite lay nicely over your shoe, but overall they look good and feel good. Same note as the gloves, the little rounded gold buttons seem like they could fall off easily, but again it would be simple enough to reattach.
I would give this 5 stars were it not for the missing collar buttons as in the picture, the Hala Star immediately falling off its velcro at one pull, and the sash’s Hala Star looking deflated and shapeless. But overall, and I cannot stress this enough, this is a FANTASTIC costume for the price I paid. I would recommend this to anyone who wanted a great, cost-effective, comics-accurate Captain Marvel costume.
