Holding Out for a Hero
What makes a hero truly dapper? Well, it's actually not very controversial. A dapper hero wears all black. He has the best one-liners. And though he might be a bit of a bad boy, he's always polite. Yep, Wesley is the perfect example of the dapper fairy tale hero. We knew it from the moment he started climbing the Cliffs of Insanity without a rope to help him.
And when he switched hands while dueling the Spaniard, we knew this hero would always have a place in our hearts. While Robin Hood fights to bring money to the poor and Zorro works to free his people from the hands of an oppressive dictator, Westley uses his sword and mask to fight for the highest honor... twue wuv (AKA true love). If that doesn't put this farm boy on your top list of dapper heroes, we don't know what will.
Details & Design
Officially licensed, this Westley costume will make you feel like the hero of The Princess Bride. While we wouldn't recommend wearing it through the Fire Swamp, it's high quality enough to be worn again and again. Which is great, since wearing this costume to the Renaissance Fair would be a real blast. Our in-house designers put plenty of dramatic flair into this costume such as the billowy sleeves that gather at the wrist and the shiny faux leather boot toppers. The costume is ready to go with a head scarf and a costume mask to keep your farm boy identity secret. All you need to do is find a sword that switches nicely between your right and left hand for breath-taking duel tricks.

Height 6’1” | Weight 165 | Size SmallThe shirt is legit, definitely what the money goes into. The sash and head cover are also quality. The gloves are alright but kinda small. The boot covers and belt are some basic and cheap Spirit of Halloween-type material and the pants are like cheap scrub bottoms that also run small. Height 6'0 | Weight 150 | Size X-SmallI'm tall and lean, I didn't want the shirt to fit me like a garbage bag so I used the size chart to match my 40" chest without things ending up too short, surprisingly the X-small was closest to my measurements. Everything fits me well, though the pants are a bit tight. I have a 30" waist, The chart says the pants are 26-35, that may be the elastic band on the belt line, but if you have a waist over 30", you are NEVER getting your ass in those pants. They are tight on me around the thigh and butt. Take the next size up if you never skip leg day.
The shirt is clearly what you are paying for with the costume, It's high quality and reminds me of the quality of costumes I used to use in theater. It looks great and fits great. 10/10
The pants feel like that thin costume material and feel small compared to the shirt, They would be MUCH improved if they were made of a material with some stretch. They SHOULD be tight so I'm not complaining, but with such thin, cheap material it isn't very confidence inspiring and I will be wearing black boxers just in case they fail me. 5/10
The boot tops get the job done, but they are all wrinkled up and heavily creased when they arrive so get the costume with time to spare so the wrinkles can fall out, I'd like to iron them, but they might melt so maybe I'll try the dryer. 6/10
The belt and sash work well and look good, though I could probably tear the belt in half with my bear hands, thankfully it's just there for show and it doesn't have to hold up your pants. 6/10
The gloves look good and fit me well, if you wear larges when you use rubber gloves then these should fit you too. 7/10
The mask is flexible plastic, but not the SUPER cheap SUPER thin plastic you usually see when you get a plastic mask, it's decent, Also it doesn't have that crappy thin elastic band that you usually see on cheap masks, the straps are cotton that you tie together in the back, this allows you to form the mask to your head better. The strap works well and the mask looks pretty good, The paint job on mine was shoddy though, bubbles in the paint and a big chip in the paint right between the eyes, I touched it up with a sharpie and you can barely tell the chip is there. Take note, if your mask is beat up, sharpie is your friend. 7/10
The bandana isn't a simple cloth, it's like a headband with a triangular piece in the middle to go over the top of your head. It achieves that look of a headband with long dangling tie in the back like a ninja turtle, but the triangle is a bit too small and no matter what I do I can't get the bandanna to cover the sides of my head so you can't see my hair when looking from the side. They could stand to go a bit larger on the triangle piece because you can always tuck extra material, but you can't cover your whole head if there just isn't enough. I imagine you'd get a bit more material with a larger size. This may be my fault so 7/10.
All in all, the costume looks great and I expect to get lots of compliments and attention from the ladies. Knowing what I know now about the pants and bandanna I might have went with a small instead of X-small, but it looks really good when it's all put together and I'm happy.
