Cat Caution
Carrying an actual black cat is out of the question. Not because of superstition. Not even because people might mistake the furball for a Familiar and label you a real witch. That would be amazing! No. Truth it, holding a cat is a tricky business. Even if they are your devoted companion, they might draw their claws without warning. And sure, you could harness one and walk them from Halloween party to party. But if you don't have a black cat as a pet, you're out of luck (please don't harness a stray) before even needing to worry about them getting spooked. We don't recommend letting them accompany you without a lead either, though. Hoping they don't get distracted by scurrying squirrels or mice or even fireflies on a dark Halloween night isn't practical. Those are the treats they're strolling the neighborhood for; they won't suppress the craving just for your costume.
