A Different Kind of Spin Class
When Jenny showed up for Colonial Spin Class, she was shocked. Where were the bikes? Why was everyone wearing full-length dresses instead of yoga pants? While Jenny didn't get the full-body workout she came for, she was blown away by how fun it was to sit at a spinning wheel and make yarn while catching up on pre-revolutionary gossip. What was Goody Tailor thinking wearing scarlet to Sunday services? The Johnsons purchased yet another ox and haven't even sold their wheat crop yet. Captain Emanuel Downing was planning on coming to the country dance to the excitement of every unmarried young lady in town! At the end of the two-hour class, Jenny had decided that she was definitely going to return. Next time, though, she was going to be dressed for the occasion!
Design & Details
This historic costume was designed by our in house creative team. Since it's Made By Us, it's been designed with longevity in mind, making it a great pick for theaters, schools, and history enthusiasts who want to dress up again and again. The lovely pink floor-length gown has buttons down the front of the bodice, a modest square neckline trimmed in ruffles, and a crisp off-white apron attached to the waistline. The three-quarter sleeves bring a little of the 1700s to life while the bonnet and shawl will make you ready to stroll into the town square, or spinning class, whatever suits you best!
Cottage Core
Jenny knows what to expect when she shows up to Colonial Spin Class now and while she wears a full-length dress in the morning while she's at the wheel, she's convinced her historical-enthusiast friends to join her later in the day for a little open-air yoga in the meadow. Talk about the best of both worlds!

The zipper came broken. Love the print. The dress is cute, but super cheap fabric. It’s already ripped twice in the back near the zipper which I fixed, and I’ve only worn it to try it on twice. Fits loose in the torso. The sleeves on the dress are SO tight, and I’m not a large person. I’m 5’1” and 112 lbs with average size arms. I wear size 12-14 and got this dress in a size XL. Fits great! I'll just need to shorten it some, but I'm short and used to doing that. Bought a petticoat to wear underneath and it makes the dress look great! Height 5'6 | Size X-LargeSo.. it was very pretty... for the price it was actually a pretty good costume. I would have enjoyed wearing it. EXCEPT the SLEEVES! The sleeves were SO small! I know I tend towards rather pudgy arms, I'll openly admit that. BUT these were really ridiculous. I order the extra-large, I think if the sleeves hadn't been so tight that I couldn't get them past a couple inches above my elbow, then it might have fitted okay. Still might have been a touch snug, but okay. But its not just tight in the sleeves, its tight in a way that the tightness there makes things tight across the bust, if that makes any sense? I also saw this same complaint on their other blue "colonial" dress--so I think it's an underlying flaw in the pattern they use. Like I said, it really really is a pity because I think I would have been quite happy with it otherwise.
BUT if you are slenderer or have really nice slender arms for whatever your size is, then this may work very well on you. Just be warned that the sleeves are probably going to fit like the sleeves of AT LEAST one, if not two, sizes down!
I will say the length was good. At 5'6" I'm neither exorbitantly tall nor particularly short, so it's annoying when I find costumes of this style that run short on me... REALLY nice that this length was good. This costume was sent rapidly and I received it before Halloween. It fit in the waist and hips; but was small in the chest. I wish that I had purchased the next size bigger. The company was good and it was delivered fast. I was not able to wear it due to the chest. Height 170 | Weight 5' 3" | Size X-LargeI LOVE the costume but for a person my height and weight, it zipped but was way too tight, especially for those of us who are top-heavy. The length also needs to be taken up several inches. Unfortunately, it does not come in 1X.
