Built in a Lab. Ready for Your Porch.
Straight from the depths of Halloween Town, this officially licensed 4-foot-tall Dr. Finkelstein animatronic brings all the eerie charm of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas to your Halloween setup. Dressed in his signature white lab coat and seated in his rolling wheelchair, the mad scientist is fully animated—and fully committed to creeping out your guests.
The head lifts open to reveal his brain, his arm moves as he speaks, and the whole setup runs on plug-in power so you won’t need to worry about battery swaps mid-scare. Just give him a spot indoors or in a covered outdoor location, plug him into a GFCI outlet, and let him do the rest.
Design & Details
This decoration measures approximately 4 feet tall and 17 inches wide, and requires assembly (15–20 minutes). It comes with all the core parts: a wheelchair base, wheels, poles, torso frame, head, gloves, and detailed clothing. Once set up, the animatronic features volume control, a sensor switch, and an on/try me function.
Dr. Finkelstein opens his hinged skull to show his brain, gestures with his right arm, and speaks seven phrases pulled directly from the film. Everything is mounted on a durable metal frame and dressed in fabric garments, with a plastic outer shell for the head and wheelchair details.
Halloween Town’s Finest Mind
Perfect for collectors, Nightmare Before Christmas superfans, or anyone who wants to add a more unusual touch to their Halloween lineup, this animatronic figure is a standout. Creepy? A little. Memorable? Always. Just don’t let him start working on new experiments while you’re sleeping.
- Perfect addition to our displayBy Nightmareonnutmeg | March 14, 2025
He looks cool and perfect for our display, the face is spot on same with his sayings.
The only issue is the frame of the wheelchair feels a little cheap but overall we are really happy with it and would recommend it to anyone with a nightmare Before Christmas display.Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - Gemmy what happened?By Kevin Croft | August 25, 2024
Let me say I love my NBC themed decorations and Dr. Finkelstein is a must. Unfortunately this is by far the cheapest quality for dollar purchased I’ve ever made. Gemmy what happened? 90% plastic?? And it’s poorly secured during assembly. The fabric on the Wheelchair wasn’t measured properly and the frame is so fragile that you can’t even pick him up without it falling apart. The sound box works great and I don’t have a problem experiencing heavy motor control sounds. None that would distract much from the Dr.’s voice. I do think there should have been a plastic shield on his chest just to prevent the motor arm from possibly going through his shirt or causing a rub burn overtime that may rip the shirt fabric. Let’s face it though the quality is comparable to that of a cheaper animatronic. NBC fans I’m sorry, but it’s an expensive prop that you’ll need. The fittings should’ve all been metal and I really wanted a Product box, but this was shipped to me in a Standard brown shipping box.Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - Poor qualityBy Brittney | August 8, 2024
The only reason I will keep it is because it adds to our NBC display. The quality is very sad for the price. This is 90% plastic that doesn’t lock in place and foam. I wouldn’t expect this to last longer than two seasons max.Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - Poor QualityBy Alex Maldonado | September 9, 2024
For such a high price point, this item is extremely poor quality. From the plastic wheel chair, to the felt wheel chair cover which doesn't even fit right. There is not a single metal pole on this as most other animatronics have. It's unfortunate because I wanted to love him.Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - Black light reactive!By Black Velvet Cat | July 21, 2025
Dr. Finkelstein gets 5 stars for being black light reactive. When it comes to construction, his chair is not great. It falls apart easily. The felt fabric is also not very well, either quality controlled or designed. I can’t tell which. The left side was having issues. If you can assemble him and then not have to move him it’ll be fine. Most issues can be hidden in the dark. His glasses on the back part of his head on mine were fully unpainted upon arrival so I had to finish painting him myself. After addressing any issue he was really great. He fit in well with other NBC items. People loved that his head popped open. I set a bottle of misting frogs breath, a cauldron and a spoon like Sally used with him and he looked good. His audio is great. It features lines from the movie.Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - They mailed me a returned oneBy Brianna A | October 16, 2025
When my item arrived and I was putting it together, a lot of the pieces were broken and we’re already used. I believe that the item sent to me was a previous return and was re-mailed out to me. It’s extremely expensive for the quality I received.Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - Cheaply madeBy Nicole | October 9, 2025
I was so excited to get this piece to my collection when it arrived and placing it together, it’s cheaply made plastic. For what I paid for this, I don’t think it’ll last no more than a year.. Disappointed on this one.Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you? - Will it last?By Zion | October 8, 2025
We’ll see how it holds up over the years, it’s made a very thin plastic with plastic on plastic joints. And I’m talking milk jug type plastic not even hard plastic. so I’m reluctant but as of now it’s cool.Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend. Was this review helpful to you?
