Founding Father Time
Well, it's time for your kid to become a Founding Father. So, what's the first step to achieving that? You could quiz them to see if they're ready based on their studies in history class. If your boy or girl doesn't quite have enough their biographical knowledge of the Founding Fathers down pat yet, we may have to hunt down some books or documentaries to help round out their command of American history. Or—maybe, just maybe, we skip all that and just get them suited up like one of the most famous Founding Fathers to learn about history in a hands-on way. Whatever course of action you choose, we can help you get the costume covered with this Kid's Thomas Jefferson Costume. Because it will have him or her looking just like the Father of the Declaration of Independence himself!
Design & Details
Kids love engaging with history and whether for creative learning, historical reenactments, or simply for Halloween, choosing a historical figure costume is a surefire way to help them appreciate the past. When it comes to America's Founding Fathers, we've got another awesome costume entry with this Thomas Jefferson Costume. A Made By Us design, our costume design team did a bit of studying up on historical styles to produce the ensemble. The top is designed to look like a brilliant, blue overcoat over a burgundy vest. But the combo is simply stitched together into one-piece for easy wear. It features gold plastic buttons that secure in the center front, and the jacket features them as non-fastening buttons, too, for extra accent. The sleeve cuffs have white frilled fabric to look like an undershirt is being worn, and the frills match the cravat that secures around the neck. Then, just have them slip on on the matching pants, they fit with an elastic waistband and are knicker-length with elastic cuffs just below the knee. Just shop for knee-high socks and a white colonial-style wig (sold separately) to complete the theme!

Size MediumWe got this costume for my 6-year old son to dress up as Thomas Jefferson for our family's Hamilton musical costumes. It is great quality! I ordered a size medium based on measurements and it fit perfectly - I might have sized up so he would have a little room to grow. It looked great after being ironed - I love that it includes the vest, jacket, and pants, and even the little neck cravat too! It was a little smelly out of the package, but a little unscented Febreze took care of that. This was a great costume, but it had that bad fish smell other reviewers mentioned. We didn’t have time to return it before our event so we kept it and hung it outside in the sunshine and breeze which seemed to help a little. The smell came back so we put it in the dryer with some fabric softener sheets and it kept the smell away long enough for our school event. It’s a great costume, minus the weird smell. We received many compliments on this costume. These costumes do not run true to size as described. My son is a 10/12 and he looked like Chris Farley in Tommy boy. We had to order an XL which fit just enough. The costume looks great on my child. My only complaint is the smell of the costume when you remove it from the bag. It had a strong odor of fish. Height 5'0 | Weight 94 | Size LargeGot a size L (14) for my 9 year old who usually wears ~12. Pants will work, but the jacket is very tight. Not sure it will fit. Also, I shook it out gently when I removed it from the bag and a button flew off. Upon inspection, they're all very loose, and I'll have to reinforce before he can wear it. Finally, the shirt neck piece is very small and flimsy. Not sure it will even cover the neck opening on my child's jacket. We ordered this for a school colonial day. Even though the costume was pretty nice fabric and fit my son everywhere else, the arms are FREAKISHLY long. There’s no way this costume was sewed correctly. Height 4'5" | Weight 68 | Size MediumNice looking costume - pants, jacket with sewn-in vest, and a velcro neck tie. Jacket and pants are a velvet-like material. Sizing is a little off- I ordered a 10-12 for my 8 year 3 month old and is tight in the shoulders. It works but won't fit much beyond Halloween.
