Design & Details
This sky-blue costume dress is made from a four-way stretch satin that hugs where you want it to and flares where it counts. The bodice features ruffle trim, lace accents, and pre-tied pink bows that do all the dainty work for you. Sleeves end in sheer ruffled cuffs that flutter just enough to make every subtle hand gesture feel like a royal decree. The skirt has a gathered waist and built-in stiff tulle petticoat for volume that says, “I arrived, and I brought drama.”
It zips up the back, making it easy to get into—because a true queen does not wrestle with her clothing. And then there's the purse. Oh yes, the purse. Shaped like a slice of cake (because subtlety is for peasants), it's made of foam and jersey knit with a zippered top and shiny metal chain. It’s the perfect size for lip gloss, powdered sugar, and maybe a tiny secret or two.

The new one I ordered from halloween.com, while it’s very cute, feminine and fun, the pattern isn’t very ornate and it is not also on the back of the dress so the back of the dress is plain. The sizing was way off and fits huge. I am petite 5’2 100 pounds and honestly this costume could fit a grown man. I followed the sizing guidelines and recommendations & initially ordered a medium - that was beyond huge. The return process was easy and seamless and I was able to order a small right away. Once halloween.com, receives the return back, they then ship the new order out. The small does fit better but it is still huge in the chest and back areas. Like, there’s still a huge gap. I really don’t feel like adding a cheap foam cake purse is necessary. Despite this mediocre review, the costume will “make do” because there is literally nothing else out there for Marie Antoinette costumes.Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend.Was this review helpful to you?
