Have you ever wondered what carrying someone on your back has to do with pigs? Apparently, the answer is, "Nothing!" Originally, the word was "pickpack," and over the years, different pronunciations and misheard syllables morphed the word into "pick-a-back," and finally "piggy-back."
If we're being honest, we like the modern form of the word best! After all, "piggyback" conjures a much more interesting picture in our imaginations than "pickpack." In fact, we were so delighted with the concept that we decided to turn it into a costume!
