Roald Dahl had a knack for writing characters that really jump off the page. His Fantastic Mr. Fox is a prime example of an odd character that immediately seems real. We don't often think of foxes as wearing jackets or cravats, but when Dahl describes it, it is easy to picture. Of course he wears a cravat! Don't all respectable foxes? Now, we mentioned jackets and cravats, so of course they are a part of this costume! Mr. Fox would just be a regular forest predator without his grand trimmings. The maroon jacket has long, elegant coattails, and it is attached to the waistcoat for easy wear. Mr. Fox's bushy tail is also attached to the jacket. To look even more formal, add the blue polka dot cravat before slipping on the painted mask. Voila! Your kid is looking quite respectable, for a fox. They are ready to sneak onto the mean farmers' lands and steal a bite to eat for the family. 

Swiping Sweets, Not Savories

Mr. Fox may be a thief, but for everyone's safety, we wouldn't recommend swiping anything in this costume! However, this would make the perfect Halloween costume. Trick or treating can feel like a game of sneaking, and your child can pretend the candies are spoils they grabbed during the heist. This is also a great trick if you're hoping to get some of that Halloween candy for yourself. Mr. Fox always shared with his family, after all. Surely, your child wouldn't want to disappoint Mr. Fox...hint hint!
