It's been a quarter century since Michael Jackson released 1987’s album Bad, the follow-up to the pinnacle smash known as Thriller. At the time, Bad was judged pretty harshly by critics who were still totally crushing on Jackson’s previous hits, but now that we’ve all had some time to think about it, we’re pretty sure we can all agree that, all on its own, Bad was pretty freaking great.
Some fun facts: The famous Hollywood director Martin Scorsese - maybe you’ve heard of him? - directed the music video for the album’s self-titled single, which stars a young Wesley Snipes as Jackson's antagonist. But the real video is much longer than the one you saw on MTV - it’s actually almost 18 minutes long, which lands it in short-film territory. Another fun fact: While it’s now practically a snoozer move, back then, many viewers were scandalized by Jackson's now-famous crotch grab in the video. But our favorite fact about this video is this juicy scoop: "Bad" was originally conceived as a duet between Jackson and Prince, but Prince didn't want to say the opening line, "Your butt is mine”, and he didn’t want the line said to him. Later on, he admitted that he was also glad he didn’t end up in the music video. ”The Wesley Snipes character? That would have been me," he told Chris Rock in an interview back in 1997. "Now, you run that video in your mind!"
Personally, we think Prince showing up still would have been pretty...ahem…”Bad”, but that’s just us! If you've got a need to be really, really bad this Halloween, then grab at your own piece of this musical glory with this officially licensed Adult Michael Jackson Deluxe Bad Jacket. With lots of decorative faux leather straps with silver-tone metal buckles and false zipper pockets on the sleeves and side panels, it's the look straight from the classic, legendary music video! Sha-moan!
