Woodstock Girl Costume
Call us crazy, but sometimes we think that the world would be a better place if we could bring back just a few of the peace-loving creatures that have gone extinct. Like the passenger pigeon. We're not even sure exactly why we wish they were still around, since it sounds like they were kind of a nuisance to farmers. But they were so pretty! And they never wanted to hurt anybody: they just wanted to keep on keepin' on.
The same goes for the flower children of the mid-1960s. Sure, they didn't have it all figured out. But there was something about them that made the world feel like a kinder, gentler place. Plus, they came up with all kinds of cool new ways of making music and other forms of art! And even though they haven't totally disappeared, it feels like times (and hippies) have really changed. But that first great crop of idealistic youngsters has never really been forgotten.
Frankly, we almost like this Woodstock Girl Costume too much. Because while the combination headband, peasant top, and skirt look really lovable and cute, it's hard for us to dress up like this and not actually get to be there on the farm all those years ago. Sure, it was muddy and food was scarce. But somehow we don't think it would have mattered if we had been dancing to the soundtrack of a generation way into the wee hours of the morning.
