The most unique costume I've seen was really simple. A first grader 'built' a spider costume from black panty hose, toilet paper rolls and yarn. She wore a black leotard and had the arms connected by yarn from her own to create 8 legs that were jointed. It was very clever.

My father is a Minister. One year we had a Halloween party at our church and my brother decided to play a prank on the church. He dressed up like my Mom. He put on one of her mumu (spelling?) dresses (lol yes, she wore them all the time), one of her bras (which he had to stuff really well) and a wig and he got up to sing in front of everyone. One of the older ladies in the church stopped my Mom after and told her.. Sis. Kelley, are you getting a cold? You just didn't seem yourself tonight singing. It was great lol

A Port-a-potty!! It was hilarious, you open the huge cardboard box decorated as a port-a-potty and the kid was coming out of the toilet!! SO FUNNY AND UNIQUE!!

I don't know if it would be considered unique or not, but it's always stayed in my mind as absolutely hilarious! My college history teacher (a male) dresses up as Lady Gaga every Halloween! At our college Halloween party last year he looked completely normal, except for his big blonde wig, which, upon closer inspection, was rolled up with beer cans! lmao!

One of my friends had a split personality... one was male one was female. He had someone sew a half a ladies dress to half a men's suit. Then he wore half a wig, and makeup on half his face, etc. I thought it turned out really well!

Chris Colfer, the actor who plays Kurt Hummel on Glee, dress up as the city of LA one year, I think 2011, that was pretty unique but I'm not sure anyone would of gotten it if he didn't point it out.  He also went as a sea monkey once.

I think the most unique costume I've ever seen on someone was a girl dressed as a Barbie "styling head" - She had a blonde wig, and had fashioned a tray around her exposed shoulders, with fake makeup and hairstyling tools!  Loved it!

A friend of mine dressed up like one of our other good friends; complete from work clothes to hair.  They look nothing alike normally.  One has straight hair and the other is naturally really curly. It looked so real it even fooled me as well as others.  It was awesome!!!!

My daughter Megan definitely gets my vote for most unique costume. She loves wolves and all things werewolf, but I never have much money for costumes. Last year we splurged for a great wolf mask but she had to come up with the rest. She found clawed gloves and different pieces of black fabric and military and action hero-style pieces. The overall effect was really creative and made a lot of people stand and stare when we went trick-or-treating. People were constantly asking her what she was and the best we could come up with was a "Megan-wolf." This year she so badly wants to put together a cohesive outfit and would be overjoyed to spend it at HalloweenCostumes.com. Thanks!

My favorite unique costume was grapes. They took a bunch of purple balloons and attached to the child's tshirt and pants. More on top, less on bottom. Then he had on a green hat for the stem. Too cute!

I have seen many awesome costumes. I think the best are ones that aren't bought off the rack. I think the 3 blind mice was a great idea. I went to the Henry David Ball in Philly and a couple who were students at the Art institute and made there costumes went as Buzz light year and Little Bo Peep..Buzz Light year was a fully functioning robotic costume..was freakin awesome!!!

The most unique costume I saw was when a single guy friend of mine created a walking kissing booth. He carried the handmade booth with a strap over his shoulders and the sign above his head said kisses for 10 cents. He also had red lipstick kiss marks all over his face ans neck. Everytime a girl approached him he would set the booth down and let th girl kiss him. It was hilarious to watch. Of course he also won the best costume contest. Lol

The most original, yet simple costumes I've seen is a guy dressed up as Chad Kroeger, with a nickel taped to his back to for the band, Nickelback. The other one was a guy dressed up in a huge present box with a tag on it that said "God's Gift".

I was at a Halloween party a few years back and a woman created her own "Swine Flu" costume. She wore a pig's nose and ears, and had on a pink shirt that said H1N1 all over it. And then she was handing out jello shots that were the "cure". So unique and she definitely won Best Costume!

When i made a large replica of a TYLENOL box for my sister to wear one Halloween many years ago. there was a poisoning scare that just happened that year because some Tylenol's were tampered with. So i then made my sister's face bright red and bloody using special make up. Like her face broke out in the most horrible way! The box was large enough that it covered her entire upper body only exposing her head and legs...I took her TRICK OR TREATING and many of the houses we went to were quite amused at the original costume that I created : )

The most unique Halloween costume I had ever seen was a guy who had made his torso into a face, complete with eyes, nose, mouth, and even a mustache, made out of synthetic hair that looked real! (he was shirt-less of course) and from the shoulders up, he wore a home-made over sized top hat! He could see through a couple of holes in the hat.

Not weierd or scary unique but absulty cute and creative unique. I have all boys and one time trick-or-treating; we saw a little newborn dressed up like a present. They had a box that fitted the baby and wrapped it in some gift wrapping paper. Next, there was a hole at the top that the head came out of. Also there was a huge ribbon, tied around the box. Lastly and probaly the greatest ahh moment; was a big gift tag that said To:Daddy and Mommy From: God
I do not even know the baby or her family. But that little girl still melts my heart when I think about it.

There's a picture making the rounds of the internet right now of a child whose parents built him an ice cream truck around his wheelchair. That has to be the most creative and heartwarming costume I've ever seen.

The most creative one I've seen in person, though, was a girl who had put her shirt on with her legs through the arms and her pants on her arms. When she held her arms above her head, it looked like she was walking on her hands!

Well the most unique costume I have seen was one I actually came up with about 6 years ago. I couldn't find a good costume so last minute I wore a suit, spattered blood across my face and instead of a suitcase I wielded a giant sword. To finish it off I pinned a note card to my jacket that read 'I make a killing in door to door sales'.
